about me

As a former Craft and Holiday Editor for Martha Stewart Living, I developed a passion for collecting old craft books and magazines, as well as scouring flea markets and vintage shops for unique materials and design inspiration.  I love to crochet, sew, and create with all types of materials - paper, pine cones, socks, ribbon, beads, buttons, yarn, gumdrops - you name it!  I always like to focus on "seeing" beyond the typical use of a material, and I'm addicted to working with color and texture.

In 2005 I authored Kids Crochet.  Second in a series of kids craft books, published by Stewart, Tabori and Chang, this project gave me the opportunity to explore one of my favorite crafts in depth. Drawing from a vast collection of vintage knit and crochet patterns, I sought to give this traditional craft a new twist, creating simple, but unique projects that would appeal to kids (and adults) of all ages.

Around the same time, I began creating a line of stuffed sock animals called Play With Your Socks, and had the honor of collaborating with international designer, Paul Smith, creating sock dogs out of his amazing socks.

In 2007 I moved to the Bay area and now live happily in Mill Valley with my husband, from where I continue to work as a freelance Photo Stylist and Craft Designer, specializing in Kids, Baby, Craft, and Holiday styling for print, television, internet and video.

I am fortunate to work with wonderful companies and amazing photographers, art directors, style assistants, and production teams.  The images in my portfolio  are the result of great teamwork and creative collaboration.

In 2011 I created über-craft as a means to explore new creative projects, and share my work - past, present and future - all together in one place.  It is evolving - as I am - and I look forward to sharing this process with you.

Thanks for stopping by!
